Disclaimer

Last updated: 4 April 2026

If you or someone else is having a medical emergency, call 999 immediately. Do not use this website to decide whether to seek emergency care.

1. Not Medical Advice

This website (A&E Waiting Times, hereafter “the Service”) is provided for general informational purposes only. It does not constitute medical advice, clinical guidance, health diagnosis, or treatment recommendation of any kind.

Nothing on this website should be interpreted as:

  • A recommendation to attend or avoid any particular Accident & Emergency department;
  • Professional medical, nursing, or clinical advice;
  • A substitute for seeking timely medical attention;
  • An endorsement of any hospital, NHS trust, or healthcare provider; or
  • An invitation to delay or defer treatment based on displayed waiting times.

Always seek the advice of a qualified medical professional with any questions you may have regarding a medical condition. Never disregard or delay seeking professional medical advice because of something you have read on this website.

2. Data Accuracy & Reliability

The waiting time data displayed on this website is collected from a combination of sources: publicly accessible NHS hospital trust websites, third-party sources or applications that provide equivalent publicly available information, and community submissions from members of the public. We do not generate, verify, validate, or independently confirm any of the data shown. As a consequence:

  • Waiting times shown may be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, or entirely unavailable at any given moment;
  • There may be a delay between a hospital updating its data and the information appearing on this website;
  • Hospital websites may change their format, structure, or data feeds at any time without notice, which may cause data collection to fail silently;
  • Displayed waiting times are estimates provided by the hospitals themselves and may not reflect the actual time you will wait upon arrival;
  • Real waiting times can change rapidly and unpredictably due to incoming emergencies, staffing levels, patient volume, and other factors entirely outside our control;
  • Some hospital listings are based solely on community submissions - reports from members of the public who have recently visited that department. Community-sourced data is inherently less frequent than automated data feeds, may be based on a small number of reports, and may not reflect current conditions. These listings are clearly labelled;
  • This website does not claim to list every A&E, Urgent Treatment Centre, Minor Injuries Unit, or Walk-in Centre in the UK. The listings shown are those we currently know about and track. Some may be missing;
  • Travel time estimates are approximate calculations and do not account for real-time traffic conditions, road closures, or other variables; and
  • Department classifications displayed on this website (such as “A&E”, “MIU”, “Urgent Treatment Centre”, or “Walk-in Centre”) are our interpretation of the source data and may not correspond to the terminology, classification, or service description used by the hospital or NHS trust itself. We make no representation that these labels are accurate or current.

You should not rely on the data shown on this website to make healthcare decisions. If you need to know how busy an A&E department is, call the hospital directly. If you believe any information is incorrect or a department is missing, please let us know.

3. No Guarantees

The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the maximum extent permitted under English law. Without limiting the generality of the foregoing, we make no representation or warranty that:

  • The Service will be available, uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free;
  • The data or results obtained from use of the Service will be accurate, reliable, or complete;
  • Any defects or errors in the Service will be corrected; or
  • The Service or the servers that make it available are free of viruses or other harmful components.

4. Emergency Services

In a life-threatening emergency, always call 999 or go to your nearest A&E immediately. Time is critical.

This website is not an emergency service. It cannot contact emergency services on your behalf, and it is not monitored for urgent communications. You must not use this website as a factor in deciding whether to call 999 or attend an emergency department.

For non-emergency medical advice, contact NHS 111 by calling 111 or visiting 111.nhs.uk.

5. Your Responsibility

By using this website, you acknowledge and agree that:

  • You are solely responsible for any healthcare decisions you make, including but not limited to which hospital you attend and when;
  • You will not rely on the data displayed on this website as the basis for any decision relating to your health or the health of another person;
  • You understand that waiting time data is approximate at best and may bear no resemblance to the wait you actually experience; and
  • You will seek professional medical advice whenever you have concerns about a medical condition.

6. Third-Party Data, Community Data & Content

This website aggregates data from third-party sources over which we have no control, including but not limited to individual NHS hospital trust websites and, where a trust does not publish waiting times directly, third-party applications or services that surface equivalent publicly available data. Additionally, some data is sourced from community submissions - reports voluntarily provided by members of the public. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of the National Health Service (NHS), NHS England, NHS Wales, any NHS trust, or any healthcare provider.

We are not responsible for:

  • The accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of data published by hospitals, NHS trusts, or third-party applications;
  • The accuracy or reliability of community-submitted data, which is provided voluntarily by members of the public and is not independently verified;
  • Changes, outages, or errors on hospital websites or third-party services that affect our ability to collect data;
  • The content, privacy practices, or availability of any third-party websites or services linked from this website; or
  • Any loss or damage arising from your reliance on third-party, community-sourced, or other data or content.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law (including but not limited to the Unfair Contract Terms Act 1977 and the Consumer Rights Act 2015):

  • We shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of life, personal injury, loss of health, emotional distress, loss of profits, loss of data, or loss of goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of or inability to use the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages;
  • Our aggregate liability for any and all claims arising out of or relating to the Service shall not exceed £50; and
  • We accept no liability for any act or omission of any third party, including any NHS trust or hospital.

Nothing in this disclaimer excludes or limits liability for:

  • Death or personal injury caused by our negligence (pursuant to section 2(1) of the Unfair Contract Terms Act 1977);
  • Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; or
  • Any other matter for which it would be unlawful to exclude or limit liability under English law.

8. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the operators of this website and their affiliates, officers, agents, and employees from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in any way connected with your use of the Service or your breach of this Disclaimer.

9. Professional Advice

The information on this website is not a substitute for professional advice. If you require medical advice, you should consult a qualified healthcare professional. If you require legal advice regarding your rights as a patient, you should consult a qualified solicitor.

We are not medical professionals. We do not employ medical professionals. We do not purport to offer clinical, diagnostic, or therapeutic services of any kind.

10. Governing Law

This Disclaimer and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with it (including non-contractual disputes or claims) shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any such dispute or claim.

11. Changes to This Disclaimer

We reserve the right to modify this Disclaimer at any time without prior notice. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page indicates when this Disclaimer was most recently revised. Your continued use of the Service following any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Disclaimer.

12. Contact

If you have any questions about this Disclaimer, please contact us at the email address displayed on the website.
