Partner with WaitSmart
We help NHS trusts give their patients clear, accurate waiting time information. By sharing your data with WaitSmart, your departments get better visibility and your patients get better access to the information they need before they travel.
The Problem We Solve
Patients searching for A&E, UTC, or MIU waiting times face a fragmented landscape. Every trust publishes data differently, on different pages, in different formats. Some don't publish at all. Patients often arrive at the nearest department without knowing there's a shorter wait 20 minutes down the road.
WaitSmart brings all of this together. One platform, consistent format, accessible to everyone. We already track departments across the country and thousands of patients use the site every week to decide where to go for urgent care.
What We Offer Your Trust
Live visibility for your patients
Your waiting times shown clearly on a platform people already use to compare and choose departments.
No technical burden
We handle the integration. A simple data feed, API endpoint, or even approval to read your existing public page is all we need.
Community gap-filling
Where automated feeds aren't available, community reports from real visitors keep your listing active and useful.
Accurate representation
Work with us to ensure your department names, opening hours, contact details and service descriptions are correct.
How It Works
1
Get in touch
We talk through your trust's data availability and agree on the best approach.
2
We generate your API key
We create a key for your trust and assign it to the specific hospitals you manage. You can start pushing data straight away.
3
Your departments go live
Waiting times appear on WaitSmart alongside maps, directions, opening hours, and contact details. Patients see live data from your systems.
4
Ongoing support
We monitor data quality and work with your team if anything changes. No long-term contracts or obligations.
Technical Integration
We provide your trust with a secure API key. Your systems push waiting time data to our endpoint using a simple JSON request over HTTPS. You can update as often as you like.
What you can send
- Waiting times for each of your departments
- Patient counts so visitors can see how busy you are
- Alert messages for urgent notices (e.g. "Patients being diverted to...")
- General messages to communicate directly with patients on your hospital's page
If your trust already publishes waiting times through an existing feed, API, or structured page, we can also pull from your systems instead. Whatever works best for your team.

Current Coverage
WaitSmart tracks A&E departments, Urgent Treatment Centres, Minor Injuries Units, and Walk-in Centres across England. Some hospitals already have automated data feeds. Others rely on community reports from real visitors. Official trust partnerships give us the most accurate, reliable data possible and that's what we're building towards with every trust.
