The widget is free for any legitimate website as long as the WaitSmart link on the card stays visible and unmodified - that link is how we fund keeping the data flowing. Waits come from the live feeds NHS trusts publish for their own departments, are estimates rather than promises, and can change quickly; if a hospital stops publishing, the card says so honestly instead of showing an old number. The widget is information, not medical advice, and anyone with an emergency should always call 999.
